IEEE Bangladesh section (IEEE BDS) and IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) Bangladesh Chapter are jointly organizing IEEE International Conference on Biomedical Engineering, Computer and Information Technology for Health 2019 (BECITHCON 2019). The conference will be hosted on 28th- 30th November at FARS Hotel & Resorts , Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The conference will serve as a platform for academic researchers and research scholars working mainly in the field of signal processing, information technology, communications and systems applications to exchange and share their experience and research results on diverse theoretical and practical problems.It will host a large number of keynote/invited talks from renowned researchers, project showcasing, and tutorial/training on relevant fields. Conference content will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases.

 The BECITHCON 2019 will be co-located area specific conferences/symposiums, namely –

Speaker Bio: Ricardo L. Armentano is currently a Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering Director of the Biological Engineering Dept. and PI UNPD/84/002 Uruguay and Director of the Ph.D. program on signal processing at UTN.BA. He was Vice Chairman at the Global Citizen Safety and Security Working Group of the International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering. He received his Engineering degree in 1984, he earned his degree as Doctor in Physiological Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires (1994) and, in 1999, he obtained the PhD degree from Université de Paris VII Diderot, for the Doctorat de Biomecanique: Mecanique de Systèmes Biologiques. He has acquired international recognition in the field of cardiovascular hemodynamics and arterial hypertension. He has taught in the fields of cardiovascular dynamics and in the broad area of engineering in medicine and biology and has extensive experience in PhD supervision and in examination of local and international higher degree theses. He is on the editorial board of journals of cardiovascular research and is a reviewer for over 25 international scientific journals. He has over 250 publications including a book, book chapters and peer-reviewed articles. Ricardo Armentano has been a Member of the EMBS IEEE since 1985, Senior Member of IEEE (2001) and Chair of the Argentinean Chapter of the EMBS IEEE (2004). He was the conference chair of the 32nd International Conference EMBS IEEE Buenos Aires 2010. He was Latin-American IEEE EMB representative. Currently is a member of EMBS IEEE Technical Committee on Cardiopulmonary Systems and EMBS Distinguished Lecturer.

Speaker Bio: Prof. (Dr) V.R.Singh, Ph.D. (Electrical Engg), IIT-Delhi and Life Fellow- IEEE and LF-IETE, LF-IE-I, LF-ASI/USI and LF-IFUMB/WFUMB, has over 37 years of research-cum-teaching experience in India and abroad (Univ of Toronto-Canada, KU Leuven- Belgium, Korea Univ, South Korea, TU-Delft, Netherlands, Univ of Surrey, UK, and others). He has been at National Physical Laboratory (NPL), New Delhi, as a Director-grade-Scientist/ Head of Instrumentation, Sensors & Biomedical Measurements and Standards, as well as lately Distinguished Professor. He has over 350 papers, 250 talks, 260 conf papers, 4 books, 14 patents and 30 consultancies to his credit. Under his guidance, 35 PhD scholars have earned PhD degree while others are working with him. He is the Mentor/Advisor of PDM University. Dr. Singh has been the Associate Editor of IEEE Int Sensor Journal (2010-2016), and is Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurements and Regional Editor of Int Journal of Biomedical Engineering and Technology (IJBET). Apart from this, he is on Editorial/Reviwer Boards of other journals. like Sensors & Actuators (Switzerland), IEEE Trans on Engg in Med and Biology , J Computers in Electrical Engg (USA), J.Instn Electr Telecom Engrs, J.Instn Engrs -India, Ind J Pure & Appl Physics, J.of Instrm Soc Ind, J. Presently, he is IEEE-EMBS-DL (Distinguished Lecturer),IEEE-NanoTechnology Council-DL and INSA-DL. He has served as Guest Editor of Special Issues of JASI on Physical Acoustics and Utrasonics (2016-17) and Medical Acoustics (2017-18) as well as on IETE Technical Review journal on Transducers(2002). He is the Chair of IEEE-EMBS/IMS-Delhi Chapter, President of Acoustical Society of India and Vice President of Ultrasonic Society of India and has been the Vice President of Instrumentation Soc of India, Vice-President of IFSUMB, Secretary of IEEE India Council and the Chairman of IEEE-Delhi Section. Dr. Singh is a Member of IEEE Standards Association. He was also Council Member of WFUMB (Australia) Ultrasound Safety and Standards. He has served as the Chair or a Member of BIS Committee on Elctro-Medical Committee in the past and presently, he is the Chairman of BIS-MHD-15 Committee. He has been the session chair,plenary/keynote/ invited speaker and on advisory boards of world congresses and nationa/international conferences, world over. He has been the Conf Organiser of WESPAC-2018, Nov 10 to 15, New Delhi. His main areas of interest are biomedical instrumentation, biomedical standards, computer modeling and simulation, sensors and transducers, biomedical ultrasonics/medical acoustics, POCT devices, neuro-sensors/implants, nano-cancer-technology, cancer hyperthermia, tissue characterisation, lithotripsy, WSN and u-health care engineering.

Dr. Carmen C. Y. Poon

Speaker Bio: Dr. Carmen Poon is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Surgery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). She received the B.A.Sc. in Engineering Science, M.A.Sc. in Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering & Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Toronto, and Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering at CUHK. Her research interests are in wearable sensing and endoscopic informatics that have potential to change surgical practices. Several pieces of her works have been rated Highly Cited Papers by ISI Web of Science (2015-2018) and collectively, her works have been cited >2300 times in Scopus (as of 25 Dec. 2018). Carmen is serving as Conference Chair of the 16th International Conference on Wearable and Implantable Body Sensor Networks, which will be held in Chicago, USA, 2019. She has served as IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) Administrative Committee member (2014-2016), and Chair for EMBS Technical Committee on Wearable Biomedical Sensors and Systems (2016-2017). She was Managing Editor for IEEE JOURNAL OF BIOMEDICAL AND HEALTH INFORMATICS (2009-2016), during which the Journal’s impact factor has doubled from 1.6 to 3.4. She now serves on the Editorial Boards for several international peer-reviewed journals published by IEEE, IOP, Elsevier and ACM. Carmen is a Senior Member of IEEE. She received the IFMBE/IAMBE Early Career Award awarded by International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering / The International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering in 2015, and the IEEE-EMBS Academic Early Career Achievement Award “for contributions to wearable sensing and endoscopic surgery” in 2018.

One registration covers one paper. For additional paper, 50 USD ( for local authors 2000 BDT ) will be added to the registration fees listed.
